A FEW THINGS TO WATCH
I cannot predict the future, but there are certain things on the horizon that might be worth following. We thank God that He is in control and we need not be concerned about these inauspicious trends.
Firstly, there are now thousands of trained jihadis in Europe and they are not sitting around idly twiddling their thumbs. They are planning the destruction of European civilisation and want to replace it with Sharia Law. The jihad attacks we have seen recently are a sign of worse to come. Europe, and all western countries, must be prepared to ban Islam and mosques or face the consequences.
Secondly, if Donald Trump were to become president of America it would turn upside down the plans of the ultra-rich heavyweights like George Soros who want to create a one world system with open borders and free trade. Obama has freely advanced this cause. Trump proposes building a wall to stop illegal immigrants coming from the south, stop the present entry of Muslims, and to stop free trade deals. Many leading Republicans also want to stop Trump.
Soros and his friends will do anything to stop Trump. They have already organised protests, but these could become more violent. It may well lead to a huge civil disobedience action. They are also highlighting Trump’s weaknesses, such as his “sick obsession” with Megyn Kelly. He has become associated with racism, misogyny, bigotry, xenophobia, vulgarity and, most recently, threats and violence. We can only pray that the presidential election is resolved in a peaceful way.
Thirdly, Obama wants a final shot at dividing up Israel, the prize that he has wanted so dearly. According to the Wall Street Journal, the White House is working on plans which would go directly to the UN Security Council. A resolution would be sought that would set the parameters for a two state solution that would recognize East Jerusalem as the official capital of a Palestinian state. It would be based on the 1949 armistice line but would allow for land swaps so that many Jewish settlements that have been built since 1967 would not be swallowed up by the new Palestinian state. The Palestinians would be required to recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Such a UN resolution would be binding upon both states. Netanyahu has promised that he would never agree to East Jerusalem being the capital of a new Palestinian state.
According to the Bible, Israel is God’s land and He alone can decide its use. (Joel 3:1-2) Dividing Israel will bring God’s wrath on the nations. This division will happen one day, even if it doesn’t happen later in the year when the UN reopens.
Finally, what will Obama do once his term as president ends, and who will replace Ban Ki-moon as UN Secretary General when his term ends on 31 December 2016?
FURTHER ON THE ROAD TO ROME
New Age leader Deepak Chopra says that “millions of non-Catholics feel a fresh wind blowing” because of the Pope’s actions and that Pope Francis has “become a spiritual exemplar.” Chopra believes that Pope Francis is poised to become more than a very popular pontiff but one who could become a symbol of holiness beyond the Catholic Church. He advises the pope not to become another “theological” pope but rather one with a “higher consciousness” and “enlightened” like Jesus.
Ray Yungen points out that the Jesuit pope is already drawn to a higher mystical consciousness by naming Thomas Merton as one of the four most meaningful people. Merton found Buddhist enlightenment in contemplative prayer. Merton once said that we are already united with God. Contemplative prayer is nothing other than “coming into consciousness” of what is already there. Yungen says that Chopra and many others are hoping that Pope Francis will be the one who will bring the entire world into “superconsciousness,” the realization that man is divine. So why are so many Christians uniting with the Catholic Church in spiritual ventures?
There are certain things over which the Bible says Christians should separate themselves from others. These include a distortion of the nature and work of Jesus Christ, a different gospel, and departure from the authority of Scripture. The Roman Catholic Church violates all three.
Rome has lifted up Mary to a position equal with Christ, which is to bring Christ down. Prayers are made to Mary, she has been elevated to co-mediator with Christ, and also made Queen of heaven. According to Scripture, Jesus is our only mediator between God and man. (1 Tim 2:5) Rome has a different gospel, one by faith plus works. Scripture says we are saved by faith alone to do good works. (Eph 2:8-10) Rome also denies the supreme doctrinal authority of Scripture and elevates tradition and new revelation. (2 Tim 3:16-4:4)
Therefore, it is with some alarm that we watch the path to Rome filling up with more and more people on the way to destruction. Now is the time for Bible-believing Christians to separate themselves from pagan Rome. It they persist in chasing after Rome, God could well harden their hearts so that they will no longer be able to make the journey back.
Ecumenism is increasing dramatically. On Good Friday thousands of Christians around the world would have joined with Catholics in parades around towns behind a raised cross. On Friday 4 March the World Day of Prayer was held in many churches, Catholic and Protestant. It is an ecumenical event and the service is prepared by women in a different country each year. In my home town it was run by the Catholic Church this year and attended by a number from Protestant churches, with some taking part in the service too.
As we get nearer to the 500th anniversary of the Reformation next year, expect many more moves to draw the “separated brethren” back into the fold of the“Mother Church.” A service has been devised by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and the Lutheran World Federation in advance of the 500th anniversary. It is the first jointly developed liturgy and is to be led by two presiders, one Catholic and one Lutheran. Others can take part too.
The service includes five commitments for Catholics and Lutherans together: “Catholics and Lutherans should always begin from the perspective of unity and not from the point of view of division in order to strengthen what is held in common even though the differences are more easily seen and experienced.” They “must let themselves continuously be transformed by the encounter with the other and by the mutual witness of faith” and should “commit themselves to seek visible unity, to elaborate together what this means in concrete steps, and to strive repeatedly toward this goal.”
There can be no unity without truth. Truth is only found in the Word. The belt of truth is the first piece of armour the Christian is asked to put on. (Eph 6:14) Many believe Catholics are true Christians because they appear to believe in the same Jesus as evangelicals do: Jesus born of a virgin in Bethlehem, the Son of God, He died on the cross and was raised from the dead. However, as mentioned earlier, there are crucial differences. Rome also defines many terms differently, such as grace where they define more than one kind.
All we need to know is contained in Scripture yet the Catholic clergy have added many traditions and extra biblical teachings. The precious blood that Jesus shed on Calvary’s cross is sufficient to justify and redeem us, to reconcile us to God and to provide forgiveness of our sins.
The Bible proclaims: “He is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” Such a high priest meets all our needs and neither Mary nor an earthly priest is required. (Heb 7:25-26)
If you trust Jesus completely, He is “able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy.” (Jude 24).
The Catholic Jesus is not the all-sufficient Jesus of the Scriptures. Do not be deceived by feel-good experiences of false unity.
There is a desperate need for greater discernment by those who call themselves Christians. It is sad to see so many being deceived and being wooed into the fold of the Catholic Church. Catholics can be lovely people but that does not mean that we should join in spiritual ventures with them.
God says, “Come out of her my people.” (Rev 18:4)
“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.” (Psalm 1:1)
“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers… Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord.” (2 Cor 6:14-18)
Wycliffe Associates, a group based in Orlando, Florida, has announced that it would not be renewing its affiliation with Wycliffe Global Alliance, an international cohort of more than 100 translators. The main issue is the way in which the Trinity is presented to Muslims. Some translations “soften” the language so that Muslims won’t be confused into thinking that God and Mary had a sexual relationship when Jesus is described as Son of God. Wycliffe Associates are against making any changes and distortion of doctrine to make the message less offensive to people.
Some prominent Church of England clerics are calling for a reappraisal of the fallen apostle Judas. One suggested he feels “a bit sorry” for Judas. The Rev. Kate Bottley says that Judas should be seen as a “mirror of the human condition.” The Rt Rev Nick Baines, the Bishop of Leeds, said that the apostle who betrayed Jesus with a kiss has had a “lousy press.” Let us not forget what the Bible says about the betrayal by Judas and his failure to repent. He is the “son of perdition” and the only person so far that Satan himself has entered. The next person Satan personally enters will be the Antichrist. Judas is a shadow of the Antichrist.
In Sweden, a terrified town cancelled Earth Hour over fears of Muslim migrant sex attacks. The town has recently been hit by a spate of sex attacks blamed on newly-arrived migrants. Fourteen separate incidents have been reported and the perpetrators are still on the loose. Attacks have included the shocking attempted rape of two 10-year-old girls at a bus stop. Another assault saw three young men wrestle a woman to the ground before trying to rip her clothes off. In a separate attack a man in his 20s punched a woman in the face before running off.
Robert Spencer writes: “Pope Francis in his Palm Sunday homily decried what he called indifference to the refugees flooding into Europe, making a comparison to authorities who washed their hands of Jesus’ fate ahead of his crucifixion. Who is preparing to crucify the Muslim migrants? … Is the Pope actually saying that to be concerned about jihad terrorists and Sharia supremacists flooding into Europe with the migrant influx is tantamount to crucifying Jesus? … No wonder the Church is offering no help against the Muslim migrant influx, but only making sure the gates are flung open as wide as possible.”
Pope Francis is a totally different pope from Urban II who, in the 11th century, saw the way Christian communities in the Middle East were being overtaken by Islam and began the Crusades. We may not agree with all that happened then, but as a result of these defensive attacks, Islam was eventually repelled. Now we have a powerless pope who is actively encouraging a European invasion by Islam. As the secular leaders are caught up in political correctness and unprepared to ban Islam and its mosques, the way is left totally open for Islam to take over Europe.
This is what Donald Trump wants to save America from:
You have probably seen some of this before, but there is new footage. Trump even makes a short appearance:
